The first weekend in October is the RSGB and IARU R1 October SHF Contest. For this one I had arranged to venture over to Coombe Gibbet (IO91GI25) to work Dave G1EHF/P at Stockbridge (IO91GC68). Quick and easy SSB and FM QSO's at 28km were achieved on 47GHz.
I also worked 5 QSO's on 10GHz including M1CRO/P at Walton-On-The-Naze (JO01PU, 199km) and ODX was G3XDY (JO02OB, 200km) and 1 QSO on 6cm with M0GHZ (IO81VK, 51km).
With just this handful of QSO's, amazingly I was able to achieve 3rd place overall in the Open Section for Weekend Contest Group, a superb result! It was noted in the results commentary that this was the first time that a QSO have been made on 47GHz in the October SHF contest.
